I have managed to stay off of all social media right now, but I feel I need a place to let out my thoughts so please bear with me preggie friends. Tuesday afternoon I had a lactation consultant come to the house because baby Larry had stopped nursing and we were concerned with his eating. Within 5 minutes if her visit she had run out to her car(and came back out of breath) to grab her stethoscope and check my son's respiration levels. Right away she was extremely concerned and told us we needed to take him to the er immediately. We rushed him to a local er and after 6 hours they transferred him to Loma Linda children's hospital. My 12 day old son is currently in the NICU with a heart condition called interrupted aortic arch type b and will undergo open heart surgery in the next couple of weeks. The condition he has is very rare (only affecting about 3 in a million newborns) and is a condition that is usually caught and operated on in the first week of life. We were told that he has literally caught at the last minute and there was a chance he wasn't going to make it through that first night. I was forever be grateful to the lactation consultant because she alone saved my son's life! I won't even allow myself to think about what would have happened had she not come to help me with nursing. At this time it is just a waiting game to make sure he is strong and healthy enough for surgery. We are completely confident that he will be ok it will just be a long road ahead of us. I really needed to get this out, whether anyone reads it or not.
This has me in tears. You, little baby, and your family are in my prayers. ❤️
prayers sent to you and your family.
