So yesterday I found out I was pregnant. Total surprise to me. Happy but so scared. Would people be able to advice me on how to tell the parents. I'm 20. Soon to be 21. The plus side is its with my Partner who I've been with for over two years but it is my first child so all new to me. I just feel my parents will be disappointed as I was signed off work 4 months ago so haven't got a job. But I feel it is only right I stand up to my responsibilities. Is it hard to find a job when pregnant also? Thank you and I'd appreciate any advice.

Hi welcome to the group :) you've joined a lovely welcomeing load of ladies on here:)! and congratulations 🎊!!! Being a young mum isn't a bad thing at all, I'm 22 nearly 23 and I'm loving it!! you seem to Have a stable relationship so I don't see why your parents should be disappointed...

as for finding a job as your so early stages I wouldn't even tell them while applying as some companies can be really negative to accept u while pregnant, due to maternity pay and starting a new job when you'll be leaving again and they have to pay you!:/

xxx

Depends when your thinking of going back work. If you do it now then do it now. And don't tell then your pregnant. I am 20 weeks and I haven't got a job due to pregnancy complications but I cannot find work even temporary because I'm pregnant. So my advice would be to start looking now and get somewhere before you get too late in your pregnancy. And as for telling parents, there is nothing they can do most parents go through the initial shock of there baby having a baby but soon get over it :) me personally I would just tell them straight. Or if your still worried keep it a secret till your 12 week scan then you can show them a picture :) hope this helps x

Hey thank you darl. Down side is I already feel so run down. Don't really know my exact dates but booked the doctors for Monday. Probably will go to that then think of telling the parents but how do I start it off? I feel I can only bring myself to say it in a text. :/xxx

noooo don't do it by text!!

I got my parents to sit down told them I had a present for them. got them to close their eyes with hands out

and I put the pregnancy stick in their hands! 😂 if they shout at first it's just instinct reaction. but they will come around! They aren't going to have any choice in the matter x

It's just my parents are split and both live in the country side so I'd feel super trapped if I went to their house and said but then if I asked them both to meet and spoke to them both together they would guess before even meeting what's up :/ ugh I'm just so scared x

Thank you. I don't live with my parents but kinda glad right now as need my space. I think I'm gonna get a big card and just write a lecture in it. Least then they can sit and think to themselves for a bit before speaking to me. Xxx

Congratulations chick xxx ... It's always hard telling parents when your only young ... I have a job so I don't really know how to help there but don't worry too much about telling your parents ... My mum wasn't overly happy at the time when I told her (in fact she sorta freaked out a bit) but you know what they soon get so excited and after a week my mum started doing everything to prepare for my little girl! Just do what you feel is easiest and don't worry too much xxx I made myself poorly because I was so scared to tell them xxx

Thank you darl. My parents have to be the scariest parents ever. But tbh they can't really lecture me as my mum and dad had my sister when only 18. Think I'm gonna stick to the card idea so I don't stress myself out too much but very lucky to have a supportive boyfriend. I spend so much money on myself even though I'm not in work so I'm sure I can save a fair amount of money over 9 months. I genuinely think I can do this. I just hope they have faith in me as well xxx

My parents used to lecture me to about getting pregnant early and they had no right really as my mum was 17 when she had me and she got married two weeks before I was born!! But they are still happily married now after 23 years and 4 kids later....

my mum was happy with my pregnancy but she's never been one to show emotion so she didn't really say much about it at the time... although when we went for the sexing scan she made it very clear she was not happy that we was having a boy! she didn't want anything to do with the pregnancy untill recently and now is over compensating! xx

Hey @ajs2094 First of all congratulations xD And welcome to Preggie :) I told my mum over text a week later purely because she was having a chat down stairs with my older sister. I was nervous and scared... don't know why because when my 17 year old sister told her she was pregnant she didn't shout at all...she let my sister make her own decision. She was the same with me... my older sister on the other hand was the one that shouted at me (she is still against my pregnancy) I found out back in May and was 19 at the time and my Fiancé was 18 :) Anyway he turned 19 about 2 weeks after I found out and I turned 20 a month after he had turned 19 :) We both didn't have jobs so I was freaking out...I didn't manage to get a job...I am now 22 weeks pregnant...I've used almost all my savings on the baby and travel to going to college (my mum made me go to college since I couldn't get a job) I will be leaving in December. I suggest do whatever you feel comfortable with :) xx

Congrats sweety! I can't offer any advice as my parents knew I was trying for a baby with my partner of 5 years & I had a job until very recently throughout my pregnancy. But what I can say is that you should do whatever makes you feel happy & comfortable because any stress you experience your baby will also. Stay calm. If your parents flip then remove yourself from the situ until things have calmed & believe me they will calm quickly :) as for a job... If you don't tell any employer then you could get a job but they probably wouldn't offer you maternity pay. Check contracts before you sign then to double check where you stand once you tell the employer :) hope I've helped! & welcome to preggie! 😘 xx
