Any mommies to be get their flu vaccine? I've never got one and have heard so many mixed stories about them. I'm in Nursing school and the hospitals where we do clinicals never REQUIRED them but now they're required and if not I would have to wear a mask alllllll day which would be pretty annoying... Has anyone gotten sick from it? (As I've heard) is it 100% safe to get it while pregnant? I have an appt on Tuesday with my doctor and will mention it to him anyways but I just want everyone's experience ☺️

I get one every year and never get sick . I got mines this year early August and I've been fine . Even been around other sick people including my boyfriend .

I got mine last Thursday. I haven't had any issues! Other than a sore arm lol. And it's the first time I've gotten one since elementary school

@juliannap, once you're in the hospital environment you have to get the flu shot. And as you know if not you have to wear a mask until the end of flu season. Some people do get sick and some don't. Make certain that you get the flu vaccine that's safe for pregnant mothers to be. My hospital already has it and I went to get mines but they haven't received the special vaccines for me.

I never get the flu shot but being pregnant it can take away a lot of risks so I made an exception this time.

I get mine every year I to work in healthcare. Being pregnant I wanted to protect myself more than ever. You will just need to ask for preservative free version

I've never gotten a flu shot even with my first 2 pregnancies and I got it this go round for some stupid reason... And I felt like crap for about 4 days after. I have never liked the flu shot and I will NEVER get another one... But that's just my opinion and my experience

My friend was pregnant and got it and she couldn't come to work for a week because she was so sick, but since you would have to wear a mask.. You might just have to do it and get it over with. :/

I'll skip it, last time I got it nurse asked me if I there's possibility of me being pregnant. I said yes, she stopped for a while and then said, that's probably still fine. It was in the beginning of October, I got pregnant and I lost my baby at 7 weeks, in November. I'm not 100% sure it was the reason, but I got sick after the shot, so I decided to skip it this time.

Nothing is 100% safe. The flu can be dangerous for pregnant women and their babies too. I got mine and have had no issues. If you work in healthcare I would say you should get one, just because of the inherent risk in a hospital setting. just make sure it's not the live virus.
