When my husband and I were taking classes at our hospital they said not to bring and baby clothing…

When my husband and I were taking classes at our hospital they said not to bring and baby clothing or blankets to the hospital because of the nurse comes to change the baby she will probably throw whatever the baby is wearing in the laundry and they will get lost. Is this normal? I have to have a c section so we will be in the hospital 4/5 days and it seems weird for her to have nothing but a shirt and blanket from the hospital that entire time.
