I really need advice... Are there any Nursing students here? I've been a nursing student for a year already and am just figuring out that this profession isn't for me.. I use to enjoy it but find myself not enjoying it and just too stressing. I don't want to live my career constantly stressed. I want to do something else, something I'd actually enjoy.. Idk what to do; my whole family wants me doing this and so happy for me I just don't know how to bring this news out to anyone :(

what's stressful about it? I plan on doing nursing but I'd like some insight on it?

@ngujen congrats to you! It's an amazing profession.. But just isn't for me. I do clinical rotations and just the job of a nurse in general I'm beginning to see isn't for me. They're so stressed all the time, working 12 hour shifts, most of them are constantly frustrated and I once thought this was my career but constantly being in an environment where there's so many germs, giving so many meds just doesn't interest me anymore. I don't want to knock you down but everyone is different. If that's what you want you should definitely go for it

@juliannap, that's the thing, I've been questioning majoring in nursing. :(

@ngujen look more into it, speak to a nursing professor at your school and find a lot about it bc what might not work for me may work for you, you know? I don't want to say anything to discourage you when in fact you may end up loving it

@juliannap, I've been questioning it for awhile now, I've only stuck with it because everyone wants me to do it so idk if it's actually what I want to do. you know?

@juliannap, I am currently taking a nursing class and I couldn't be any more stressed. I take it early in the morning, and right after that I have to go to work, when all I want to do is sleep and stay home when I'm feeling sick. just do whatever feels right for you, and try not to stress out! I know it's easier said than done because I'm stressed everyday, but only yourself can truly determine your limits :)

@ngujen, @juliannap I just graduated nursing school this past June and I can honestly say I feel your pain. Nursing school is stressful within itself so when you are at the clinical sites it's not like you are free to be the nurse you want to be, you are still under the rules and guidance of the school. Yes I have seen a lot of nurses stressed out and I have asked and they say after a while if you don't take breaks or rotate the specialty that you are working in then you will get burned out, and others said it just wasn't for them but they continue to do it. But I have met PLENTY of nurses who love what they do! And their advise is that it is completely different from being in school because you get to be the nurse and do things the way you like it done, as long as you are breaking rules of course... For me I HATED everything about nursing until I went into the maternity rotation and I saw that that's were I needed to be... There are so many options! And bedside care does not have to be one of them...But if it's not for you then don't do it find something you really enjoy.
