why do people always say "your child needs their fathers last name" . last time i checked its 2015 , its my decision i talked to him about it and he understood and he didn't step up to the plate so therefore my daughter has my last name and i couldn't be happier with my decision .

It's good for child support. & knowing that it's his child. I've heard some stories from friends where they can't put the daddy on C/S bcos the child has mommies last name.

I've never heard of that. My daughter has my last name and her dad got put on child support very easy. 😊

My first son has my last name, no big deal at all, and as for child support, it wasn't hard for me to get it, they just did a DNA test.

@xoxo512070, really. They don't even do DNA test if the child doesn't have his last name. The courts think it's ridiculous. But I just heard the story I'm not going through this so I wouldn't know a lot

Right they are ridiculous though. They asked my child's father for a DNA test, but he said no. @aydensmommy

If you're not with the father of the child and the child is with you, it's way easier for him/her to have mommas last name!
