Down at the cops shelter we would not allow that. We don't event start giving them any type of food food until 10 or so months. That might just be that shelter but still sounds early to be eating that much in one sitting.
^^what @mariahkillen said. the earliest should be 6m because their tummies aren't able to fully process food until then. and even then it should only be 1-2 tablespoons. food before 1 is just for fun and not really needed.
Really? I always started my kids around 5-6 months with the ok given by my doctors. Ive always thought you start jar/cereal by then. Ive never heard anything different.
@brandy8snear, yeah if your dr says alrighty then it's okay but a whole jar seems like a it much if he can handle it then fine but most Bauhaus can't tolerate it.
@bradsmom711, a lot of doctors will give the ok at 6m because most parents want to start by then. our pediatrician doesn't recommend any form of cereal because it's been proven it has no nutritional value and is just a filler.
Id say ask your doctor, but as long as he's not throwing up its fine. I mean they are supposed to be eating more to expand their stomachs on top of milk. This is what I found on Kids Health: Most babies this age are introduced to solid foods. Experts recommend gradually introducing solid foods when a baby is about 6 months old, depending on the baby's readiness and nutritional needs.
Wow. You'd think CPS would be on top of what doctors are approving. That's just honestly the first time I've ever heard anything like that. Good to know for future reference. I agree with the cereal I never really gave it to my kids nor really did we feed them the jar food due to salt and fillers they add but I know many people that have and their babies---> kids are healthy. @_akgirl @mariahkillen
I'm not starting my baby on food til later but I feel like if your baby was ok taking the whole jar and you didn't force it, it should be fine. I wouldn't give the baby anymore food for the day though. CPS? I never heard of that. You would think people would call them if you were not feeding the child.😕

Yeah that's why I'm saying eating that much before 10 or so months is not good on the tummy

Cps would advise against it. That's what we do with the kids who or into crisis shelter.

@bradsmom711, not many people are aware of that.
