It's normal to lose hair in pregnancy. I didn't lose any last time but I'm "shedding" quite a bit this time. Some women can actually get bald spots as well.
Is it a vitamin deficiency, or just normal because I'm allergic to the prenatal vitamins my doctor gave me so I've been doing flintstones until we find one I can take @kmally
Ohh okay ! My hair is my favorite thing about me and to see it falling out and getting huge clumps in my hands when I'm washing my hair is fairly alarming! But I'll definitely talk to my doctor! Thank you @kmally
It could be totally normal or you could also have thyroid issues... I have had thyroid problems since high school but my friend started loosing hair like crazy while she was pregnant I told her to mention it to her doctor and they did blood work turns out she did have thyroid problems and had to start her on medication... It's pretty important your levels are monitored if you have thyroid problems while pregnant because of the changing hormones
I was just in the er a month ago with severe pain in my side and we never found out the cause they said it could of been my appendix but I refused the ct scan since I was only 18 weeks and I have a few gall stones but they said that it shouldn't be causing me pain at this point, @saramarie09
@brandylemonds15, yeah.. It was probably not your appendix because that would still be causing problems.. I would definitely talk to your doctor about getting a blood panel done to check... I know I lose my hair really bad while I pregnant but when I'm not I have no issues with it.. But I have hypothyroidism.
I just has all my blood work done and one of my test came back slightly abnormal but she won't tell me anything until my appointment on the 30th .. Ehh now I'm worried I just thought it was my iron was low or something @saramarie09
Well I would ask incase because I don't think thyroid blood work is standard. ... But I'm not sure. Hope everything works out! Try not to stress to bad. @brandylemonds15
I'm definitely bringing it up ! And I'm trying not to I know it isn't good I just hope it's nothing to bad she needs to cook for at least 10 more weeks but id rather full term @saramarie09
Definitely talk to your doctor but there are things that you can do to help too. Dont wear your hair pulled back/up as often, never put it up when wet, use a wide tooth comb to brush it, cut back on products with alcohol like gel or hairspray, avoid tight styles braids, no teasing, etc.. Traction alopecia and excessive breakage results from these types of things.

Definitely talk to your doctor but I think it's more hormonal and if it is alopecia it's more autoimmune I do believe.
