Sheet, mattress protector, bumper (I prefer mesh), some people buy a comforter but baby doesn't use it it's really just a decoration so not needed, and a bed skirt.
I have the same question:) I'm thinking about buying only mattress, maybe mattress pad and crib sheets(about 3-4 pieces) it's also good to have some kind of small flat sheets to put under baby butt, because they can leak at night and you don't want to change sheets at night. You can also bay crib skirt to make your crib look nicer. You don't cover infants with blankets, or if you do, pick cotton ones and they have to be set they won't move .. I'm actually going to skip blanket and use only swaddles , because I think it's safer, but I don't know yet, it depends on baby and I'll see what to do when the time comes
No prob (: I also suggest buying individual pieces that match the theme your going for. I refuse to spend $200 on a bed set they will barely even use lol

We honesty have only used the sheets from his "bedding set". Now that he's older he sleeps with a blankie too but that's it.
