Sooooo my daughter turns 9 on Monday.
We planned a party for her on Saturday. Because of scheduling conflicts, we moved it to Sunday afternoon. No biggie, birthday girl's still so very happy and excited.
1. My cake lady literally canceled today. As in, not making my cake. No real reason given.
2. Then came the RSVPs. All ten agreed the timing was great and they'd be happy to come eat cake and laugh. (No presents needed, just PRESENCE.)
...TODAY. EVERYBODY flaked.
3. Her biological dad refused to help pay for anything, as usual. He's in Louisiana so he can't be troubled to come early and help set up. Annnnd now he's not even coming. At all.
4. My husband's work has him 4 hours away and he won't be home until Monday.
5. I'm so upset. I just wanted her to have fun. She was sick on her birthday last year so we wanted this to be really nice for her. We do a lot for so many people, and they couldn't even find thirty minutes for a piece of cake?! Gaaaah. I'm so over it.
But it gets better! One of our flakes wants me to braid her daughter's hair Sunday AFTER party time. Tuh! I'm unavailable.
I'm so aggravated. I wish my preggie buddies could come.
...BUT! Her pics turned out sooooo pretty. She's all excited about her presents and turning 9, and every day she makes plans for what she is convinced will be a little sister. =)
I'm upset. But if Brooklyn is happy, that's what matters. Just trying not to cry.

I hope so! She's such a sweet kid. Like even tho her birthday isn't going as planned she's busy trying to make sure WE are ok. She's a little gem.

Good plan! That's probably what we'll do. I'll be too upset if we just sit home. I want her smiling & having fun.

thats so messed up. you know what i would do? i would forget them and just have a mommy and daughter day and take her to a special place. does she like dolls? theres american girl place or build a bear or chuckie cheese , if shes the diva type you can have a mommy and daughter spa day and buy her a small cake to blow up with u and theres lots of other places that set up everything with cake included. u can pick up her little cousins and friends and take them or go just you and her. what matters is she knows u care and that she is loved. i gree up with my single mother and things were not always good financially . yes i had my good share of small intimate birthdays with my best friends but sometimes plans where not able to be met becauae of my friends schedules and not having enough money but mom always made my birthdays feel special. first she would surprise me with a big birthday ballon then she would take me out to a special favorite place and we would go have dinner and a small cake with a candle and blow them out. sometimes it would be to watch the new awesome movie at the cinema or go to the huge toysrus and chooae my special wanted toy. i didnt care if it was just me and her. taking pictures.
sometimes its not possible to have big birthdays but its still special if u are with someone who loves u. you have a beaut daughter and she deserves the best

We use to plan big parties and the same things would happen. Now we just let the girls decide what they want to so for their birthdays and tell their uncles and they usually bring their girls along. No parties just fun. And they choose a gift usually weeks before and we get it and have cake and ice cream. No disappointment and lots of fun.

Y'all are so sweet. I'm listening to her sing and dance in her room now, like she hasn't a care in the world! Only a happy kid does that. She's ok.
