*LONG RANT*
Our house doesn't have central air so we have a window unit in our bedroom, and in the living room.. well the one in the bedroom went out and we had to get another one..
*side note: my husband hasn't ever been taught things like "handy man" work because his dad was a POS while he was growing up..
But he put in a new air conditioner yesterday and I told him to make sure it's leaning downward outside so it leaks outside instead of in the house... I woke up this morning to the floor of the bedroom completely soaked, like he ignored what I said to do.. I grew up a truck driver/logger's daughter and I'm a daddy's girl, so I know how to do a lot of things by learning from my dad.. If I wasn't big and pregnant I could fix it myself but I am.. so I woke him up and told him the floor was wet and he needed to fix it, he tries to just prop it up from the inside but it was already installed into the window so it's not gonna budge! He's gonna have to take it out and fix it.. and he proceeds to tell me to "shut the f*ck up" when I'm trying to help.. Well he goes and gets a big pot from the kitchen and puts it under where it's leaking and goes back to bed...
I'm pissed because I could have done that! If I didn't want it fixed right then I wouldn't have woke him up! He never tries to fix anything! And when I try to help he just gets mad, because he doesn't want someone telling him what to do like a child... But if he doesn't know he needs to learn, and I'm not bossy or rude when I try to help he just gets mad at me!

Oh wow I am so in the same situation!!!! My husband has no clue how to fix things or do things most men know how because he was not raised with a man in the house and his mom was on drugs. My mom raised me but she grew up on a farm and know how to do everything a man can so I am very hands on. My husband also thinks I talk to him like a child when I correct something he did. Yesterday he shampooed the carpet and put the kids play mat right back down. I was like you have to wait for the carpet to dry please pull the mat up till carpet dry. Nope he did not do that. I sooooo feel your frustration! Hang in there and hold on to the things he is good at. I read something the other day that said if you do not expect anything from people you will not be disappointed. I try and just not expect perfection from him to keep me from going bat shit crazy mad! Lol

I don't expect it to be perfect but I don't understand why he gets so angry and gives up when all I do is try to help! I can't do it myself or I would.. I always tell him how proud no I am of him, and if he does something good I compliment him on it so it's not like his other things go unnoticed ya know? But when he messes up even if it's something small like putting the cereal box back in the cabinet he gets pissy!

I wish I knew why they get so upset. You are doing it the right way. I do not know how you could handle it any better than you already do. Hope your day gets better.
