Just found out I'm not entitled to the sure start maternity grant because I don't claim any benefits 😔. When I start maternity leave can I put a claim in for working tax/child tax? Then could I reapply for the maternity grant? £500 is a lot of money to miss out on

I've never been able to put in a claim or update tax credits until after is baby born, not that we are entitled to anything anyway. Never been entitled to a maternity grant with either of my boy so wouldn't know.

It's ridiculous! I've stayed on at work till 35weeks just to be able to pay the bills and it's a struggle but they wouldn't understand that. I will apply for everything and see where I get x

@tremzini, I would as you never know, better to apply and not get it then to have not applied and been entitled to it. x

The 500 is only if you get high rate child tax credits but not working tax credits
up to £16000 a year
worth getting the tax credits sorted an try again but it does take a ehile

I had to leave work to try sort things. been out of work 2 weeks now and maternity isn't due till next week and housing being fitted is going through it am

not entitled to it either single person an no money government is wrong but i will be trying again when baby's born and I have the tax credits going through xxx
