Having a baby With Sickle Cell is very scary because there is not an easy way to see when there is a problem esp with an infant. I can't easily see signs of distress I have to take crying more serious and further inspect , check for fevers,swelling,etc. But if she has a fussy day she could be in pain and I or her caregiver could easily take it for just a bad day. Not that I want her to have any issues because so far so good but I have been reading that crisis can start at 5 months on. I just don't want my sweet baby to feel pain. Now that she has this cold from our trip I also realize I have to be that mom that doesn't just let anyone hold her or any kids touch her because a simple cold for the average kid could be serious for my baby. It's hard to accept that when on the outside your baby looks and acts like any other baby....
