I know when I did mine I learned it's not the phone you need to activate it's the Sim card. I don't remember all the steps but go online and look. Took me forever to figure mine out but I did get it eventually

I found out that it's bc my phone is brand new I purchased it from Verizon and it's never been activated so you have I activate it with Verizon before you can actuate it through another carrier? Very confusing! But I figured it out lol @floridamommy1024 @countrycupcake111215

Call Verizon they will give you a code and you have to put it into your phone or they will unlock it for you for 25 dollars. just call and ask them how to do it. :)
