You would have to ask your doctor cause my doctor let me at 6 weeks cause my son ha colic but everyone doctor tells them stuff different but I can tell you it never hurt my son and I still give it to him just know more then 3 oz
I've always been told it's a no no, I'm sure there are cases like @sammie_bell though, but not just because. a lady got arrested not to long ago for killing her baby by giving to much water. I'd definitely ask your pediatrician first
I only ask because my daughter is 4 weeks old and she seems to have the runs. Lol i don't want her to get dehydrated so I just thought. My insurance has a 24 hour nurses line so I'll call and ask them.
it was the whole milk in the bottle that killed the baby it takes a lot a lot of water to harm but I'm definitely not saying do it all the time but it will help so you don't put milk on milk if they get hungry to fast
my cousin started giving her baby soda, tampico, kool aid at like 6-7 months... smh. so I think a little water around 6 months should be fine.. I was told you wanna exclusively breast feed/formula for 6 months and then start water and food..
@alauraandabdielsmom, that's what I was thinking also it's important to note that a breastfed baby still doesn't NEED water after 6 months but their system can handle small amounts after that

Ask your dr. There's not really any reason a baby needs water. Also if it's too cold it could make them puke.

I would give my son an ounce around 2 months. you have to be very careful though. because they choke.

@ninety, is she breast fed or pumped and bottle fed? that's known to make infants have looser type stools I believe!
