Yea. I forgot what it's called but it's the pink looking thing. maybe if u see a picture of only that u will know the name of it since I can't tell u lol @gracelynsmom26

The newborn insert is not safe for baby. It's actually illegal. If you took this to a firehouse it would not pass inspection and they would have you remove it. If you get in a car accident and something happens, and the car seat doesn't work properly, it's automatically void and you can't sue them or get the car seat recalled or anything, even if it's completely unrelated to the insert. It could be the base and it wouldn't matter because it's not manufacture approved. I would strongly advise taking it out. Baby will not have an issue with their head, I promise. Car seats are made to support new borns properly.

This is why babies rear face, on impact their heads will only press into the seat. If you're worried about their neck laying against their shoulder, you can place rolled up reviewing blankets on either side, but their heads and necks have been in such weird positions for the last 9 months it's not really a big deal. Plus I lay my head on my shoulder in the car. And it's not gonna stop their head from flopping forward at all, which is usually what happens. If you're worried about it just sit next to the baby in the back seat until they can hold their head up.

Their heads aren't light enough to flop every which way, which is what I think you're worried about.

Also!!! Infant car seats tilt back so that they're laying.
