I honestly was so for letting my baby sleep in the bassinet all the time but at night my newborn sleeps with me (I'm a single mom ) and it's so perfect so I don't have to get up or anything at night when she's hungry. but during the day I try to keep her in the bassinet at least for a little bit. I'm going to put my daughter in her crib once I am done breastfeeding.

Bassinets are good for at first but they can be put in cribs at any time, just can't have any blankets or objects in there so they can't get SIDS. Just a flat sheet, and waiting for a year is way way too long lol

so should I keep him in a different room with a crib or put the crib I'm my room and when he can lift him self up is that a good idea? I just get scared he'll hurt himself like hit his head or something lol

I think bassinets are good for 4 months then transition to crib. But it's all in what you want :)

my daughter is 5 weeks old and she sleeps in her crib now. for the first month I had her in her bassinet than decided to put her in her crib to give her move room. bc she likes to sleep sprawled out on her back. I breast feed as well. her crib is in my room though because I live with my parents right now.

ultimately it's up to you and how you feel but 1 years old is to long to wait to put a baby in a crib.

You can put baby in a crib as soon as s/he is born but don't keep baby in a bassinet for more than 3-4 months because then they can climb out. If you want baby near you at night but not in the bed with you, a playpen works great too!
