I am currently 32 weeks...
I have a German shepherd puppy and we got her at 4 weeks and she's now 8 weeks, I am the one who takes care of her (feeds her, baths her, takes her outside, etc.) because I'm home with her while my husband works so she is quite fond of me..
But here lately she's been way more attached! She's whinny if she's not close to me or touching me in someway, she never really liked to be held or anything but the past few days she has crawled in my lap, slept at my feet and if I move she moves so she is laying against me and she constantly wants to be by my side.. when I get up in the middle of the night she goes with me, she follows me around the house regardless if it's two feet away.. Doing the dishes she lays at my feet!
I know dogs have instincts and I'm just wondering if it's because it's close to time or if maybe she knows I'm gonna have a baby and the attention won't be just for her anymore and she's jealous?
Does anyone know of what I can do to help introduce our baby boy to her and prepare her for him? Or have any stories on how you introduced your fur babies to your baby?
Any help will be much appreciated!

take one of the baby's blanket home and let the dog sniff it. it have to have the baby scent on it

If you don't have any nieces I would go buy one of those babies that cry and make noise. Carry it rock it do everything that you would to your baby and see how she reacts. If her reaction is bad then your going to have a problem on your hands. She could be sensing the baby is on her way and just need some reassurance. Is the dog ever around kids? If not I would try her out with different ages of kids to see how she reacts as well. Good Luck

the youngest she's been around is my nephew who is one but he walks around and plays, I don't really have to give him constant attention like a newborn needs.. I'm not sure if it's closer to time or if she is just becoming jealous

That's nothing to be scared of.. Everyone's dogs and even cats do that. They can sense the hormone changes. If the dog is acting like that it means she is gonna be best friends with the baby and look out for him. My dog was the same and now won't leave me alone.

it's definitely a Natural reaction to the Baby. my Cat already senses a Baby and he Follows me every where around the house, even the bathroom. and sleeps by me.

I know sometimes they start doing it because labor is close and sometimes they are just getting jealous because they know they won't have the attention anymore... I am hoping it's not because she's jealous... she followed me around before and stuff but here lately she's been real whinny and crawling in my lap and laying at my feet when I'm doing dishes.. and she has never liked being held much so it's weird for her to be crawling in my lap.. and if I move her she crawls right back, that's the only reason I was concerned
