labor story time! after 2 false alarms in weeks 36 and 37 i was questioning every pain and "sign" and wondering if every little cramp or discharge was "it". Thursday night i couldnt sleep for anything! i was crampy and uncomfortable. finally at about 330 i fell into a restless sleep waking up ever little while with pain. at 445 i finally got up and started timing. i realized how strong they were and at 10ins apart decided to wake up hubby and let him know. this was at 6 am. we started getting pretty bad contractions at 6 mins apart and i went to take a shower thinking i would mention this at my drs appt at 10 am. by the time i got out of the shower the contractions wer 3 and 4 mins apart. getting dressed i stood up a contration hit and boom, water broke all over the floor. as if i need more signs, i knew my son was coming. :) we got to L&D and were in a room hooked up at 8 am. i was at a 3. the started pitocin and already having really hard contractions i finally asked for the epidural and got it at 10:30. by 11, the epidural had moved all the contraction pain from my abdominal area to my...tailbone. heads up, about 1 in 50 ladies get this. DONT GET THE EPIDURAL! these are 15x worse! Luckily i was dialated to a 6 by the time they were really really bad :'( Next thing i know the dr is checking me and mumbling is going on and montiors and cords start moving. in the delivery room i pushed 6 times. at 12:58 my baby boy was here. he had the cord wrapped twice but no complications came of it. :) 7lbs 2 oz, 21 inches long, i might be bias ;) but he is perfect!. 💙👑

Besides the epidural not working, apparently i dont take anesthesia well at all, i felt the perenial cut which was awful and felt the stiches until i begged for a local which helped for all of 10 seconds. That and they blew 2 veins (hand still very bruised and swollen) and stuck me 6 times (3 nurses ) for my fluid and pitocin i.v. but over all, i would do it again tmrw for my baby boy.

if u were already in labor why did they give u pitocen ?

my thoughts exactly. according to the nurse it was to strengthen the contractions and move him down bcuz he was at a -2 when i was dilating.

that's weird ... I would of refused that especially since u were having steady contractions ... smh doctors were just tryna speed up your labor

yeah that's weird that they gave you pitocin so early. i went in at 8pm and didn't get pitocin until like 11am the next day.

well it went fast thats for sure! lol , but actually you ladies got me researching it and the only thing i can think was that my contrations were not strong enough. but! we will know next time! as a ftm, it so easy to just trust in the drs! @_akgirl and @babygirl10-11

I just noticed thats exactly how my water broke I was having contractions every 10 min i got in the shower and they went from 10 to 5 when I got out I had one big contraction and I stood up and my water broke all over my bedroom floor that was at 1230 am had my baby at 125 am was only in the hospital less then 30 mins lol

@mommyzamora, oh wow that's cool. Just wondering cause I live in the palm desert area too but I delivered in 29 palms cause of the insurance I had at the time. I live in desert hot springs.

oh ok, i was going to go to desert regional but my dr only delivers at jfk. im not sure that i know her. @arielle
