Have any of you ladies been through or are going through your pregnancy without getting an ultrasound? I really want to continue my pregnancy without having an ultrasound but the homebirth midwives my husband and I met with yesterday require 1, they didn't use to however and understandably due to one traumatic/horrific experience they changed their policy on that. We really like them but I'm not sure if I should look elsewhere for a midwife or anywhere I go in Illinois an ultrasound will be mandatory for a homebirth.
@loveless, I totally understand. I think pregnancy brings out the best and worst in us. I've become such a worrier and normally I'm a free spirit. But if you have to have at least one, see if you can get the "Bentley" of ultrasounds. haha 😁
Thank you =] @chichimango My husband is still giving it some thought but I think if we do go with them I will ask them about recommending me to a specialist, I mean if I'm going to have an ultrasound I'd rather it be done with a machine that can detect up to 80·/. abnormalities and most common type of sonograms can only detect 10-30·/. abnormalities
Women have had 100's of years of healthy pregnancy and babies but modern science is a blessing and a curse. If you're required to have at least one, I say oblige modern medicine to get them off your backs. It's there to make sure mom and the baby are safe and doing well. I personally want one because I don't care for surprises and I honestly think I'm having multiples... But that's just my opinion. 😊
@loveless, definitely!
