So I've been with my boyfriend for 2 and a half years, it'll be 3 years in December. I was talking to my boyfriends mom earlier today, she was telling me how she'd love it if him and I got married before the baby came. I told her I don't want that to be the only reason why We get married. And I feel like the both of us still have some maturing to do before that, and I grew up with my mom raising myself and my brother. She's going on her 5th marriage and she's had countless boyfriends so I've never seen a steady relationship. And I don't want that to happen to my son. Also I'm only 19, I want to be able to at least drink at my wedding. Anyways, she wants us to get married for insurance for the baby. I feel like that's wrong. I believe marriage is something you should do when you're ready to commit to somebody and want to be with them for the rest of your life. I feel like I'm being pressured into this, his mom is going to talk to him about it. But I feel like it'd be for the wrong reason. Can I get somebody else's opinion on this?

Married for insurance? He can still be on your boyfriends insurance even if you aren't married.

i completely agree. my sons dad wants us to get married before the baby because he has lately gone into religious views . i told him no. im not even 18 yet

@queendavis, @zicareian1 she was telling me if we were married we wouldn't have to pay much money for insurance? Is that even accurate?

@red1996 that doesn't sound right at all, the baby will get added to his or your insurance as a dependent. I have never seen a discount for being married, shoot mine cost more with my husband on it. If you are not ready to get married don't, you are young. I got married young, I love my husband to death, but we went through a lot. We are still together October makes 8 years we been married.

Don't get married because his mom wants you too . Baby can still be added on his insurance even if yall not married . Wait till yall ready . 😃 I got married the first time to my kids father because his parent are all religious and what not . Needless to say our marriage didn't last . He simply put , wasn't ready for marriage . I was and would have worked it out but he didn't want too . Long story short , we should have waited .

You don't have to be married! I know many people who have committed themselves to someone and just never got married. They have kids. And they love each other.

This is out of subject but I thought it was weird and cool haha.. my bf and I will also be together for three years on Dec. I'll be 19 in 9 days haha but don't get married if you don't want too. My bf and I aren't and we're super happy like this, I wouldn't want to change it in any way.
