drink some OJ or oral glucose if you have any... do you take any anti-diabetic meds at night? if so, and if you haven't taken them already, you may want to call your dr's after hours numbers and ask if you should skip taking them tonight since you're so low. Taking them could cause a severe hypoglycemic event. (I'm a certified diabetes educator).
I do take meds I take 5 glyburide 2.5mg every morning and 5 every night. I took my pills tonight but nothing I eat seems to be bringing my blood sugar up @levleah
@dianne0825, what foods have you tried to raise your glucose? If you're experiencing hypoglycemia despite eating foods to raise your levels, I'd advise you call your dr or go to the er.
I've tried carb loaded foods and popcicles for a fast sugar boost and it raises it for a few minutes but the meds keep dropping it back down the highest it has been is 97 then it dropped to 62 within 10 mins @levleah
@dianne0825, the glyburide is dropping your glucose despite being post-prandial (having eaten), which is what it's supposed to do, however, it sounds like you may have been experiencing hypoglycemia before you took your meds which is why you're dropping even lower. Go ahead and call your dr, since your experiencing mild hypoglycemic symptoms without any relief despite eating carb loaded foods. Monitor your symptoms especially if you start feeling any confusion. If you don't already, always check your glucose before taking your meds to gauge where your at.
