I always had two or three but I didn't wear one daily. I found it easy to use a regular bra as well. So I went back and forth between nursing bra and regular.
Love love love them. So convenient. You could always use a stretchy sports bra but traditional bras don't have enough give. And then you're not stretching out your good bras ;) I use the ones from motherhood and they have held up well :)
hmmm i barely wear mines ...i don't breast feed when im out and when I'm home i wear tank tops the camis from forever 21 no bra so i can pull out my breast lol
i barely use my nursing bra, but I do use a nursing tank top, I'm sure camis would do great too like @phasion all I wear since I had my baby is a nursing tank

i wouldn't say necessary, but they are good to have. at least 2-3
