You will only leak small amounts of colostrum , your body will only produce milk once your placenta is delivered ( your body sends a hormone to start milk production ) .. Pumping makes your uterus contract :)

@harata87, oh so no matter how much you leak the actual milk won't start until baby is born. Very interesting. I'm really glad I asked cause I'm learning some stuff!lol thanks @harata87

Yep @cwilly anything you leak is just colostrum until after you deliver baby and placenta . Once you deliver it sends a hormone to start milk production usually takes a few days after birth like 3 to get your milk going !!

I was curious and just wondering... I just started leaking colostrum today and was wondering does that necessarily mean I'll be delivering soon? and I was also wondering if you start breast feeding can you supliment what you pump with formula as well? just wondering have no clue how all this works
