How do I go about getting child support from my sons father when he is born, when he lives in a different state? I know I'll need to do a DNA test, how does all that work? I need real answers not just guesses so please only answer if you know for sure!

Have him sign birth certificate and take paternity test soon as baby is born in the hospital...I think the nurses ask you do you want it done. That's what I'm doing. But you have to get him there first during the delivery part to participate.

if you don't want him signing the certificate when baby is born call the child support case and they will have u fill out a packet then to get things started they will have him take a dna test to prove baby is his to get him to pay thats what im going through right now

@tjbailey10, @manimommy2015 he won't be there at time of delivery, and also won't be signing birth certificate. So that's what I'm confused on, he lives in Virginia and I live in California so I'm not sure how they'll do the DNA test and stuff?😕

my bd lives in California and i live in Vegas i think he would have to come down to take the dna test if he denies he is the dad idk about the distance but all you.have to do is call the office and they will explain more about it

Oh ok thank you! @manimommy2015 that's what I'm concerned about because I know he won't come out here...so I am unsure about all of this

I live in ga my oldest son dad lives in Md so I had to fill out the child support packet then they had to locate him first. Then we had to do a dna test ( the ship the test results off to a lab and shipped his dad DNa to the same lab) then once the results came back he had to agree on a fair child support amount
