what age is a good age for a nine months baby to.sit in a front facing 3-1 that recline? my daughter is nine months on Saturday and she's too big for her rear facing we drive a small Chevy Colorado two door cab truck so her feet are all squished to.the back that if we were in a wreck it could kill her she sits behind me and my seat I'd as.far.up as it goes my knees are in the dash. so it's dangerous for the both of us. the car seat we are looking at 22 pounds and up Rosie is 22.5 pounds. what are y'all opinion I know what the docs say but it's not.up to them no negative comments or u will be deleted.

She's supposed to be rear facing until at least 2yrs but you could get the car seat that's rear facing and front facing and rear face her until then. It's much safer for her that.

There are guidlines you have to go by to forward face of weight and height, it should say on that specific seat what the guidelines are..

Yea the car seat that I want is 22 pounds and up and my daughter is 22.5 pounds so she's well within the guidelines plus it recline so if a wreck was to.occur she is still reclined just front facing that's the only difference honestly @sking092192

Well the car seat may mean you can't place your child in it until they are 22 pounds, but it may be a forward and rear facing seat.. what seat is it?

@rachaelbutsch, It's legal in AZ to forward face them at 20+ pounds, most states are making it illegal to forward face before two, the risk of wrecking and snapping the neck or spinal cord is 70% higher due to their bones not being developed well, if you forward face her and she drops her head down when she's asleep and can't keep it up shes definitely not ready to be forward facing... I know how you feel, we are completely cramped in my car, no room for her, no room for us. our knees are in the dash, but I personally leave her rear facing as long as possible because I'd rather it be her leg break then her neck and she die.. like I said, that's just myself. it's actually a law where I live, we can't forward face early... it's uncomfortable for us, but her safety is what matters..

In most states it's _minimum_ 1yr _and_ 22-25lbs. There are rear facing car seats that are smaller, thinner, etc that go up to 50+ lbs.

does your state do car seat check? our does and they will tell you when they think it's time to switch them. sometimes they also give you a free car seat so you don't need to buy one
