Sometimes my hubby gets so mad he doesn't see how much he can hurt the dogs. When our pug was little and she peed on the bed he got so mad at her and I could tell he was really mad I had to take her in the bathroom with me and not come out until he was calm. Your puppy is more than likely okay and although it wasn't right of him to hit the puppy hard in the face because of damage it can cause the puppy will most likely never touch his work belt again.

@santistevanmommie, yeah I get that. and that's him 100% he's so heavy handed. I understand that my puppy is okay but this puppy is my furbaby... and if he gets that mad at a PUPPY what about our baby... he doesn't have a lot of patience... now he expects the pup to listen to him and to just come to him

I thought the same thing about my hubby too. If he's like this with our little baby pug how could he handle a baby? But it'll be different with baby chances are he will be so in love with the baby he will find more patience within himself. When he gets that way with the dogs I tell him or at times yell at him he's being too rough. I've burst into tears in front of him because he hit them too hard or they yelped a lot when they got in trouble. Sometimes they need to see and hear that they were rough.

@santistevanmommie, he gets mad at me if I try and say or ask him not to be rough, I cried and yelled at him this time because it was too excessive! he got mad and said "fine I'll just let him destroy our things, teach our daughter that too" I replied with "well maybe if you helped me keep the place clean it wouldn't be a problem but I have to pick up after you every day" so now he is really pissed and just cleaned the house.
