so i have a shitzu puppy that iv had for 6 yrs...i can tell she feels alittle left out but all my time goes to my son right now...my fiance wont let her go near the baby...i dont see the problem as long as shes easy and dont jump, which she dont, but he doesnt want her licking on him or anything...how did u ladies deal with newborns and a puppy thats like family??

I have a big pit bull, you have to let the dog smell the baby once in a while and try to give the dog attention because they will get REALLY jealous, my dog knows not to jump or lick her, but he will smell her all the time

Im dealing with that with my weiner dog. Her and my son are my babies I just ignore my boyfriend and allow her to get by my son even if he gets mad he will get over it lol. I read babies who are around dogs and cats have a stronger immune system. I think she feels left out too so iv been buying her extra treats and ill walk her well I have my son in the carrier.

I have 2 puppy dogs, 1 is a chihuahua and the other is lab/heeler. They do great with my baby girl from the day we brought her home. We let them both come to her, of course we monitor them closely and don't let them too close to her. We don't want them to feel like she's taking their place so we keep them involved. They'll get by her and smell her we don't care if they lick her as long as it's not the face and they don't go crazy which they don't it's usually just a lick on the leg and they walk off... But I think it's fine as long as puppy it's right on top of him and you watch closely
