Birth Story:

I woke up around 2:00pm(in the afternoon.) on Wednesday the 22nd thinking I was about to start my period. I then realized, obviously that was me half asleep, being silly - I was having contractions. I let it go for about an hour, and then started to use the Baby Center/My Pregnancy app to track my contracts. At 3:00pm I started to track them all, and decided to take a shower as well. At about 6:15pm, still on Wednesday, my husband and I decided to head up to L&D too get checked out. They were about 1 min long, and 5-7 mins apart, and lasting for about 3 hours. I'm not one to run to the doctor for every little cramp, or weird feeling, so, I wanted to really make sure before I headed out. I was in triage for about an hour - an hour and fifteen mins, when they told me I was in early labor, was 80% effaced, and 3cm dilated. The contractions started to get really bad, and at 4 1/2 cm, I begged for an epidural. I highly highly recommend this. It hurts no more than getting a basic IV drip. Literally the same. For anyone who told you it's super painful, don't worry! You're required to get an IV, so, might as well get an epidural as well. It's didn't hurt at all. As soon as that was administered, I was laughing, talking, and in no pain at all! I quickly dilated to an 8cm, but, that's when I started to get irregular contractions. It was about 3:00am - now Thursday the 23rd, and they put in an intrauterine pressure catheter. (This helps measure exact force of contractions during labor - getting a more accurate reading.). I pretty much then hung out for the rest of the night. At 7:00am, they checked me again, and my doctor said that there was just absolutely no way this baby was coming naturally. She apparently had been stuck in my pelvis for about two hours, going nowhere. They immediately wheeled me down to the OR where I got all set up for surgery. My husband was by my side the whole time. The whole procedure flew by, and all I felt was tugging, pulling, and a bit of pressure. It never hurt though - just uncomfortable. She was born at 7:32am, on Thursday 7/23/15, weighing 9lbs 6oz, and is 21 inches long. Today, 7/24/15, is a different story. I'm in tons of pain. Loosing so much blood, and they are making me walk to speed il the healing process. It all sucks really bad. Believe me, you DO NOT want a C Section! Anyway!
