why do they give you an IV in your hand when you in labor? that's what I always wanted to know. because anytime you to the hospital for anything else it's always in your arm ? is it so you can move better?

It's easier to get to while your pushing and stuff like that. Especially if something were to go wrong and you need something ASAP it is easier to get to your hand during labor.

If the iv is uo where your arm bends and you bend your arm it kinks the little plastic part in your vein and it can't pump anything into you. Every time ive had an iv in my upper arm when I would bend my arm it would start beeping until I straightened my arm.

so that's why it's always in the hand? my friend she had to get it in her breast because that's the only vein that was working I was like ouch

you can ask for it to be if different spot I can't do it in my hand I had it in my wrist when I was little I fit then in my feet because I wouldn't leave then alone
