I wouldn't leave I would stay in the waiting room have an icee play a game on my phone and then have them check me again lol but seriously that sounds crazy to me
it sucks, but they know its gona be a while. the day i had my son, they sent me home at around 1ish, and by 7ish i was back and 9 cm ready to push 15 min later. It will happen soon
