So after my 20 week anatomy scan turns out I have marginal cord insertion which instead of the cord coming out of the middle fatty part of the placenta mine comes out on the end/edge which can make for smaller babies or growth restrictions so they closely monitor the blood flow through cord and placenta , so I was referred I went up today to Tacoma for the high risk prenatal doctor which they did a growth ultrasound and Doppler of the blood flow from placenta and umbilical cord .. So there are 4 levels of the blood flow for the umbilical cord , 1 being Normal Blood flow 2 being Reduced End Diastolic Velocity (which is okay but not great and where I am currently) 3 being Absent End Diastolic Velocity which requires being admitted and real close in hospital monitoring and 4 being Reversed End Diastolic Velocity which is bad and requires taking baby out early .. So I now have to do weekly non stress tests on like Mondays and than Thursday Friday I have to have Doppler ultrasounds and in 4 weeks another growth ultrasound . She said that the blood flow could go back to normal or it could go the other way just depends Christian is right on the borderline of 10th percentile he was in the 8th a week ago today was in the 9th . If he grows past the 10th that considered normal and would suggest normal blood flow but if he goes down not good . He's really not measuring to far behind like 4-5 days and he does weigh 2.5lbs as of today . Once I hit 32 weeks I have to have bi weekly non stress tests and a Doppler done . She said best case scenario is I would make to 38 weeks she said worse case scenario is my Doppler next week could show bad blood flow and require admission to hospital and close monitored for reverse flow . So to be on the safe side I had to get steroid shot to help mature his lungs and have to get the second shot tomorrow. So pretty much it will be play by ear weekly from here on out . I want him to bake as long as possible but he could be here early ! So I am top right picture !
