There's places you can rent one cause where I used to live we had well water to .. But about your question I have no idea ahah but if it does cause a problem a water softener will help

you can just buy calgon water softner. my sis in law uses that with tide. I have hard water but don't use it. I wash my diapers in gain and his clothes in all free and clear. the all just didn't get the diapers as clean as I wanted.

Test your water with a water test strip to see just how hard your water is then buy a water softener like Calgon how hard your water is will determine how much water softener you will use.

If you don't use a water softener the minerals will build up in the fabric and cause either smell issues, or the diapers to repel, rashes ect.
