@tracynangel, well, I feel like there's no resources for those who have a full time decent job or career..... I make good money and wouldn't have a problem or worry if I wasn't paying student loan debit... I'm worried that my insurance won't cover things I need or appoint. for my OB and other things..... however, I'm working on minimizing my debit and working on a smaller budget so that I can start saving at least 200$ as month for any extra expenses.
Trust me I'm there too! Thank goodness I have insurance with my husband! Everyone knows teachers don't get paid what they should be! Does you job offer insurance?
@tracynangel, yes, I have the insurance but it really doesn't cover much from what I gathered on my last phone call with them... but one of my friends said since we aren't married yet I should still be able to get medicaid but idk it sounds like I make to much.... in going to pray because I know God isn't going to put me in this predicament without any help.
@tracynangel that's what I'm afraid of because in TX something as little as a car, and your disqualified.... its like okay how am I supposed to get to work here....
@ehamp86, - what type of insurance plan do you have? hmo, dpo, ppo? Not being nosy...but if you are getting married soon and your job offers better health plans such as a ppo (assuming you are on an hmo or dpo) you could change your plan based on a qualified status change. I worked in health benefits industry for quite some time... there's always a loop hole =)
thanks @babyhawkins2015 I'm not sure if it's considered HMO or ppo its called HRA and all the times prior to becoming pregger wick s very few I've had to pay something and I was mostly not prepared at the time to pay anything over 50$...
@ehamp86, - Ahhh Health Reimbursement Arrangement...Yeah, those tend to be for folks who don't really need to go to the drs. Are you getting married soon (again not being nosy or judging). If so, it would be considered a qualified status change..which means you can change your insurance plan (also check when open enrollment is...you can change plans then as well.. but that usually happens in October or November time frame). insurance plans vary tremendously... but it is also a pretax benefit (which will help you get a larger tax refund early next year)...I would say to call your hr or benefits folks to ask what the premium costs differences are in addition to general coverage for having a baby...when you do get married, you can change it ..you have 30 days typically from the date you get married.
yes, were planning to get married within the next two years, the baby came as a surprise and we must not have good options for insurance because its either the HRA or HSA plans.... I'm not sure of which is better at this point and I was told a few weeks ago that I've already met my deductible for this year and that if I have any health dollers they will use that before they ask for any co payments.... in really confused with our jobs benefits honestly.... @babyhawkins2015
@ehamp86, - wow, that's crazy that they only offer high deductible plans. I haven't really heard of that. normally, they'd offer at least an HMO plan which would force you to go to a dr that's within the insurance network. Does your job contribute any funding at all? You may want to double check with your benefits folks to see ALL insurance plans. Sometimes it takes a few phone calls as reps who answer the phone don't always give the right info.
And if confirmed HRA and HSA is all they offer, HRA is probably the better route. You could always research independent insurance... you'd have a monthly premium but they could also pay for more than your medical expenses then without. I won't lie, it's alot of mathematics but... if you are wanting to be economically savvy, it's a must. You could try Obama care options too...that I don't know much about but it's another avenue to look at.
