I'm just not a huge fan of my doctor, but had only two to choose from and wasn't able to drive to another hospital. My boyfriend insisted I use the woman doctor out of the two because he thought it was weird for me to have a guy doctor (stupid I know). I just always feel like she rushes me in and out and just brushes off any questions or concerns that I have. She hasn't asked me anything about a birthing plan, if I plan to breastfeed or bottle feed, nothing like that. I am 34 weeks and I feel like I'm getting to the point where she should be concerned about these things. Is it normal that she hasn't shown any concern about this yet? At what point did your doctor ask you questions like this?

I know with my doctor she didn't ask me until I was almost 36 weeks

I'm getting so close I feel like it would be too much to bother switching now! I wish I would have sooner though I would feel much more comfortable. @ngujen

@raelynnsmommy, it isn't a bother, you should feel comfortable with the doctor who will be delivering your baby!

I know. I wanted to way sooner. My insurance also doesn't allow you to switch after so long so I've missed the boat on that. @ngujen

They only allow it when this far along in like certain situations if I felt threatened or something like that. @ngujen

My doctor is the same way. She acts as if she couldn't be bothered. If she's like that during my August appointment...I think I'm going to find someone else. 😕

I had the same issue with my doctor and switched practice at 34 weeks. if you are unhappy and feel like they don't take you serious I'd see if you can get in somewhere else.

@raelynnsmommy, that doesn't sound right? I'm going to be 30+ weeks once I have a new doctor and I know someone who switched at 33 weeks as well! sorry they won't let you :(

I asked at dhs at around 26 weeks about switching and they said unless I felt threatened or needed to report my doctor because I thought she was trying to harm me or my baby in any way then I couldn't switch. Of course I wasn't going to report her because she is not mean and doesn't make me feel threatened. I just don't think she shows enough concern but apparently that's not a good enough reason to switch. I didn't think that made sense either! @ngujen

I switched from a woman to a man because of that reason... Not while pregnant but just in general. To me men doctors take their time and doesn't seem rushed all the time.

@raelynnsmommy, well at least now you know what doctor not to get next time! Mine is the same way and his nurse is just rude/smart ass.
