I have an appt this mornings. Sometimes I'm not really sure what these appt are for they only last about 5 mins. They check my tummy ask if I'm doing ok and send me on my way. I wait longer to get in the room than I do to be seen. It's kind of pointless I guess but idk what to expect this is my first time. Sometimes I freak out because I feel like just another piece of paper to the doctor, especially when I'm never seen by the same one. But then I calm down and tell myself the doctor is not the one delivering the baby you are so all the matters is that they are qualified and can assist if an emergency arises.

I'm the same way. I go every two wks and all the dr does is listen to baby's heartbeat and measure my belly and I'm out the door. But I love hearing her heartbeat and knowing she's okay in there even if I feel her move a lot

Your doctor should be asking about your birth plan and going over vaccinations with uou

@tracynangel when did you start to have that discussion? And I totally feel the same way about going in for 5 minutes and not doing much :(

@tracynangel, I've already informed them about my birth plan and as far as vacations do you mean for me or the baby? Because I've only had two vaccines and that was the flu shot and something else I can't remember what it was but since I'm going completely natural I've ask for no intervening, so hmm what should I be asking? Ugh I'm just too neurotic about this whole situation. I'm always too worried about them doing something to me that's not necessary. At this point I'd rather birth this baby at home than under the care of people who only see me as a payment.

@danamarie, @blue_87 my midwife who is connected to the hospital started asking me what my ideal birth plan would be when I was 26 weeks! She wrote down the environment, lighting, who I'd want in the room, etc. she also gave me the TB test and the TDAP which prevents my baby from getting whooping cough. She measures my belly, listens to the heartbeat, and asks if I have questions about breastfeeding. She also asks about pediatricians I'm interested in. Each appt takes 30 mins to get through.

That's awesome. I wish I could have had a midwife but it just wasn't in my budget but luckily there is a NP midwife at the doctors office I go to, who I have full access to when I'm feeling like my questions aren't being properly answered. I was actually able to see her today and I purged all my concerns on her and she spoke clearly to me answered everything and hugged me and told me to relax that I'm more prepared than most and that I am going to do just fine. That my body will tell me what to do and to trust it. She also told me when the contractions come to just let them be and not fight them to welcome them. That lol this was my passage into womanhood. That God made the woman's body to birth babies and if it needed help it wouldn't be designed it's special way.
