From one Christian speaking to another, we do have the right to demand someone to not sin. However, Paul is a very wise man. He realizes that no one likes being told what to do. Instead, Paul relied on the relationship and presented his friend with a request. Recognize that demands are often met with resistance and do little to change behavior. Try asking for a favor rather than asking someone to submit to rules.
