I'm probably the only woman who gets annoyed when men refer to women of a city as "our women". Women don't belong to men. We aren't their women. Why can't they say "the women" or "the women of ____"?
I hear it a lot. "You rape our women" "they killed our women/took our women" etc.
Idk it just sounds bad to me lol.

Depends on the context to me sometimes I see is as them taking on responsibility to protect the women of whatever they are referring to. More out of chivalry than ownership. I know when we use to go out in big groups most of us guys and girls were single but if guys starting harassing us all the boys would step up and protect whoever because no one messed with anyone in our group.
