*****RANT*****
Raising my nephew have been for 10 months now when his mother and father come around his father ( my brother ) plays on his phone or brings his laptop and plays on it will take maybe 10 minutes of his time to the child. His mother on the other hand will pretend to be miss super mom and always ends up letting my nephew get hurt. She doesn't pay very well attention is too busy on her phone taking pictures of him. She always tries telling me how to do things when she has only had him 3 months of his life and she only comes around maybe once or twice a month if we are lucky . I've tried being nice by telling her to not tell me how to do things since she doesn't come around enough to know how he acts and his everyday needs . It really pisses me off and I try not to let it get to me but I can not keep being nice to her . Neither of them help with anything to provide for the child but anything I have for him they have an input on. I'm so sick of this and I really wish they would just leave me the hell alone the child is perfectly healthy very happy and very smart. They won't be getting custody back for another two years IF they cooperate which they haven't thus far. What should I do? Should I sit down and have a talk with them about what I don't like? (They both are addicted to drugs and she -the mother- is an alcoholic) so I'm not sure how much they really will listen to me. I'm sick of having to bite my tongue to keep the peace around here. As of 8 months ago WE are the FOSTER PARENTS, he gets regular in home check ups every month and never have I once had dcf tell me I'm doing anything wrong.

I'd talk to them. It's the mature thing to do for the child but if they really aren't if parents when they're around then I person wouldn't allow them around at all... Not if they're telling you what to do. Seems like they only show when it's convenient for them.

@coraanne, that's exactly what goes on they are convenient parents. And I can't not let them around they have to have visitations whenever they want as long as it's convenient for me at that time . But I can't not let them see him until they finally give over the right to adopt him which won't happen until two years from now if they don't cooperate and do what the court has ordered and dcf.

That's a hard spot! Just talk to them and tell them how you feel. I give you props for taking your nephew in, especially when your still young yourself! Not many young adults want that responsibility and it's amazing what you've do for that little man. He'll love you forever and you will always be a special person to him.

Thank you @coraanne I had a talk with them and my brother seemed to understand and as for his girlfriend the mother she might as well have been like talking to a wall. Absolutely no expression on her face and just sat on her phone ignoring me. Said absolutely nothing to me. But maybe next time they see him it will have sunk in with her and she will not be like this towards me . It's not like I wanted this, I'm pregnant with my first child I don't even have my own yet... She acts like I'm the devil or something, I would LOVE to see him back with his parents and them taking the correct care of him and cleaning themselves up but until then I just couldn't live with myself if something happened to him in their care. I give them both full opportunity to see their son. Never have I said no unless it was bedtime for him.
