well my kitten was raised in this house that we are leaving with my roommates cat. She left and took her cat and I knew it would be difficult for my cat but he seems really upset. He spent all night and yesterday going from room to room just crying. I couldn't even get him to calm down for treats or wet food. I'm just concerned. I have moved with cats in the past and they did OK but he's already so upset. We have a dog and we were hoping his friendship with the dog would help but now idk. I'm just worried about my cat. is it normal for him to be this upset? is there anything else that I can do for him?
@bbyenolan22, I have a dog and cat and they are both super emotional too lol when my husband goes away for training and such she all the sudden forgets everything she's been trained for a couple days and if they get separated they both cry about it. Usually it'll fade in a couple days just have to let him/her ride it out cats are super used to routine and habits so they can act weird with big changes but usually it goes away.
@bbyenolan22, it's so normal the way the kitty is acting. He's just missing his friend. So sad! 😔. Try to bring home some new toys, and snuggle as much as you can. Also, I read that as soon as you get home and enter the house, always pet the cat before the dog. They will see that as a huge form of comfort and love. He will bounce back. But, just like humans. He's sad. Whatever you do, don't have the other cat come back to visit. It will just hurt him again when it leaves.
