I work at a fast food joint. An older man asked if I was a new employee to which I said "no. I just had a baby so I've been on maternity leave. I've worked here a few months." He said "oh well congrats! What does your husband think?" As I swallowed back the lump in my throat and held back the tears, I faked a smile and responded, "he wanted a boy." Today was hard.
