I would like to start daily informative posts about pregnancy and delivery to help other people :) So today I would like to talk about the importance of prenantal vitamins. I know how hard it is for some of us to manage to keep them down, this pregnancy it has been difficult with nausea and constipation from them, but I learned to make sure I ate before taking them and drink plenty of fluids. It is VERY important to make sure you take your prenantal vitamins because of the folic acid! Folic acid is important for the spinal development of your little one, especially in the first trimester. Lack of folic acid puts your baby at a higher risk for spinal bifita. Hope this helps :)

It helps, I keep forgetting to take mine. I'm going to buy a new one because I hate the ones I'm currently taking. My Dr did tell me I need to take Vitamin D also

@trezelle, honestly I find that the cheaper ones from the pharmacy don't make me as sick! It doesn't matter the brand as long as there is at least 800 mcg of folic acid. .

@trezelle, you can also naturally get vitamin D from the sun :) just dont go out there tanning. I usually hang out outside for a couple hours after work around 4 or 5.

@saramarie09, I would say as long as you're taking them everyday :)

I had a problem keeping them down and my OB suggested taking them before bed instead, it really helps out!
