I wanted a girl so bad but having a boy! Now I'm glad I'm having a boy. You're not horrible!

How do you cope with it

Your daughter will be how you raise her if you don't like girly things you'll dress her gender neutral and she'll play with trucks instead of Barbie. It'll be okay. I grew up playing with tonka toys.

I was told I was having a boy for a month I thought so then got the news it was a girl I cried n was a lil depressed for a few weeks was scared it may be a mistake didn't buy girl stuff til I was almost 8 months . I love my little girl I have a 12 yr old dtr but now I really am trying to prepare my life so that in 2/3 years I can try one final time for a boy. Before I was done after 1 then said I'm done after 2 now I want three! Try again for a boy😊

@casiibrewer, you didn't tag me so I didn't know you responded! I was pretty down for a while, especially shopping for clothes and all the boys stuff definitely wasn't the same as the girls. I also didn't think I could relate with a son because I'm pretty girly, and worried he would only bond with his dad over sports and things. Slowly, you will get more and more excited about having a girl I think especially after reading stories of all the women on preggie trying to conceive, or enjoying their time with their girls. 😜

I know it's reversed but I really had no idea wtf I was gunna do with a boy and a penis at first. I'm not a Tom boy at all, but after months of knowing I was carrying this crazy boy I got excited, and by the time I held him and looked at him i forgot I ever wanted a girl!!!!!! It's actually really eye opening when you get something you didn't think you'd want or understand. 4 1/2 years ago I wouldn't believe I would be playing with Avengers, playing in mud and having a blast!! I have friends who had girls who dress them up in purples, yellows and black, so some girly stuff but not the pink overload (which if I have a girl this time around I will be dressing her in all pink everyday) but basically you learn to adjust and you accept what you get and you love that child and you raise them to be a loving, caring, compassionate tiny human being and that's the important part!

Gender disappointment is a big thing though. It takes some time to get over the initial shock and it is normal to feel bummed out or like you won't be as good of a parent to the kid, but I'm telling you these feelings go away.

You're not a horrible person for being scared! My first was a girl, and I was/am a tomboy.... I didn't know anything about girl things. You don't have to be girly to be a mama to a girl, she'll most likely take after her mama! Girls don't have to be all pink and glitter. Hang in there the thought of having a girl will grow on you!
