How many of you moms agreed to all the blood testing for downs and birth defects??

We did not. Our belief was no matter what this baby is a blessing and will be loved just the same but everyone is different (:

@scfxo, the doctors tried So hard to push it and other things I disagreed with. Sometimes they just need to back off lol and sometimes it's just too much.

I did it only bc I'm on the edge of turning 35 and thus being high risk. That said it all came out fine and I wouldn't have changed my mind about it - if it would have turned out different. I just wanted to be prepared in case it was.

We had the testing done 1. because they said it was a normal part and didn't ask us... and 2 because we atleast wanted to know if there were any problems.... we wouldn't have cared we just wanted to know so we could prepare ourselves

We did. It's better to be prepared then to not be. The baby wouldn't. be loved any less if she did have any problems.

we had it done because our drs didn't tell us it was optional. I wouldn't have had the genetic testing if I knew it was optional.

I did not do it and very happy I did not. You find out on your ultrasound for 20 weeks anyways. I knew someone who thought their baby had Down syndrome the entire time because of that testing and baby ended up being fine. I would just wait until twenty weeks. Regardless you can prepare yourself

I did. It didn't matter to me the outcome. Still my daughter and will be taken care of. I just wanted to know in advance because of my age and my job. I wanted to be prepared just in case I need to quit or cut back my hours and I could prepare my employer.

I'm a FTM so I didn't know you cod refuse and thought it was a normal test you had to have done like the glucose test. However regardless I would have done it just to be prepared. Nothing the tests could have said would have changed how much we love our baby

We go it done. Not so we could abort if we found out something was wrong but to be prepared in case something was..

I did. wanted to be prepared if there was any possibility if something may be wrong. would still love her no matter what!

I did because I am 36, so I'm at a higher risk. The outcome would not have mattered to us, but at least we would be prepared.

I have my appt today at 3. And had to sign a packet of a ton of papers opting in or out for certain testing. I've opted in for all the ones that were offered. I'm still young. Only 22. And none of the things I am being tested for run on either side of the families. So I'm confident. But I just want to know if something is wrong so I can have ample time to prepare mentally. Emotionally. And physically. In the end. It's in gods hands. And I pray every day for a healthy baby! But I value all of your choices and appreciate the amazing response I've received. It's help me be much more comfortable with my decisions.

@awn0710 - I think the preparation is key. It would give anyone time to get use to it and prepare for it rather than just winging it when the time came! Good luck I'm sure it will all be good 😊
