I checked into it but it was too expensive for me. Like $400 a month to store it.

I've been looking at ViaCord and they start at $1200 to bank plus $175/year. Or they have options for 20 and 25 years ($2700/$3200 + $1200 initial banking charge). Idk I'll obviously have to get husby's opinion lol I'm just wondering how beneficial it is @junebaby

that's not as bad as when I last checked. you never know when you might use it. definitely would get it if I could afford.

@njf1216, it's just so expensive! That's why I've chosen not to do it. The benefits are amazing if God forbid something were to arise in the future where you would need it. But we are going to delay her cord clamping at least 5 minutes so she gets all that's in the cord instead of saving it. The benefits to baby are extremely high as well. It really is about your financial situation at the end of the day, or you can even donate it if you meet the criteria for it. And save another person or child's life.

We are planning on doing it. I'm the type of person who is afraid of regretting it. I mean, better to have it and not use it, then to not have if and need it. I'm just not sure if we will be doing the 20-25 years or lifetime or what.

Yea I think we are gonna do it @jennatess major reason is since my father has Crohn's disease, even tho I don't have it, it's been known to skip generations. And while as of right now there's no indication they can do anything for it with cord blood, u never know what medical advancements they can make in the next few years. Plus, knowing it can help her potential future sibling if need be is a comforting thought. $175 a year is barely a blip on the financial radar and the peace of mind is sort of unparalleled.

@njf1216, I'm completely in the same boat! My mom has Multiple Sclerosis, and like you said, although cord blood is not being used now to help with MS, who knows in the future?? It's a peace of mind knowing it's there if it's needed!
