So I'm relaxing watching tv with hubby and I keep seeing commercials for the TV show Intervention. And I hate that show. What possible positive outcome is going to come because you exploited people at their lowest point. These are sick people. People who need help! Addicts can't recover without support treat and compassion. Seeing a show use people's struggles just to get ratings is disgusting.

I'm a substance abuse counselor , I feel the same way . I hate that show .

It's horrible. I did more reading to see if the station does anything to help the addicts get sober or find jobs or resources or anything of the sort and they don't even do that. So many addicts have spoken out saying they were promised help in exchange for being on the show then they just get passed over and forgotten. It's heartbreaking. I can't even watch the commercials anymore I get so upset I cry

I use to watch that show and it's only given me a great fear for my children. just the littlest thing can be the cause of such heartache. I do however have more knowledge of the disease. my brother inlaw is a recovering addict. it's very scary.
