you don't have to have one. it's mostly your choice unless you need a c section

I loved mine. but I also had 20+ hours of back labor before I got it. if they do it right it won't mess up your back.

They numb the area first. I won't lie-it's uncomfortable and alot of pressure. But OMG, it is soooooooo worth it. I'd rather have 30 seconds of discomfort than 30 hrs of pain

@bryawna13, it doesn't hurt I promise. It's a scary thing but I've had 5 now in my lifetime. 2 for my children and 3 for knee surgeries. And I promise if you have low tolerance for pain they are a life saver during delivery. It hurts no worse then getting blood drawn. Just listen to the doctor performing the epidural, and do as they tell you and you will be ok.
