Have any of you mamas had a natural birth?
No pain medication? Can you please share your experiences with me or tell me the pros and cons? My dr said no to a water birth so I'm thinking of doing a natural birth.

I had natural with my 1st born. For me it was awful! Painful is an understatement. My 2nd born I had meds. It was the best thing EVER! But everyone is different lol

I slept Thur it till I had to push. I was only at the hospital about 4-5hours before having my son. but like the user above said everyone is different, and every pregnancy you have. I think this one is going to be painful

I had a natural birth with my first child. My pain tolerance was high so it wasnt that bad. They gave me an enema so I wouldnt do #2 while pushing. My contractions lasted for hours but the actual delivery was only 15 minutes. I ended up getting an episiotomy but didnt even know because I was so focused on getting thru each contraction. I had 3 family members in the room who were good at helping me cope. So it really depends on you.

I have not had one yet, but we have a midwife and are going to have a home birth. Their are a lot of things to consider when you are going to do a home birth, biggest being no pain meds, if you can handle that then their are a lot a pros and a few cons. Cons being if you have a complication how experienced is the midwife you chose and if she can't help then you will be transferred to a hospital asap for the rest of your delivery. You can't change your mind and get pain meds once you are in labor. Pros being it is less invasive, you are in your own comfort zone and have a lot more control over the entire birth and what the baby will and won't be given when born etc. if it's something you are thinking about do some research but be 100% sure with what ever decision you make.

Also with a midwife they will bring a tub in if you want a water birth you just have to ask if it is available. Every midwife and state is a little different.

I wanted to do my birth completely natural. I was in labor for 17 hours total. it took me 15 hours to dilate from 2cm to 4cm. those 15 hours were natural. I just couldn't relax therefore I couldn't dilate and I have an extremely high pain tolerance. got my epidural and dilated from 4cm to 10cm in about an hour to an hour and a half. pushed for 30 minutes. the epidural saved me! if you can do it totally natural, all the power to you girl! just not my cup of tea especially since I could only have my water broken for 18 hours before I'd be rushed back for a c-section!
