I say give it a shot. A little bit is better then nothing. They say that weather you make 2oz or 20oz the anti bodies are the same amount.

So should I still keep regular formula around or no? @californiahaley

Just remember in the beginning it's really slow. So if you think it's not enough then feed baby more times throughout the day. But try it and don't give up.

@britnimaria, Its hard at first but just keep going after 2 weeks it gets better. But whenever your baby looks hungry and it's only been 10 still give it to them. Your baby is trying to build your supply. Try not to give formula untill later because it will effect your supply, your body will think the baby doesn't need to eat at that time so it still stop making it. As long as your baby is gaining weight your doing good.

I personally feel like if you kept formula in the house from the get go you're less likely to put in 110% during the first tough couple of weeks and breastfeeding needs all your effort. So if there's an easy way out you might take it if it got rough. Ya know? And if you started supplementing before your supply regulated and you didn't need supplementing then you'd basically be setting yourself up to always need to supplement. Because your supply would in turn regulate to the amount you were giving plus a formula feed so you'd end up making less then baby really needed so you'd always have to use some kinda formula. I hope that made sense?
