Labor story: Tuesday was my due date and I got my membranes stripped at 2cm dilated. Wednesday contractions started and Thursday I went into L&D but was only 3cm so I had to go back home and labor some more before going back in. Friday morning the pain was unbearable and I finally went back to L&D to be checked. Luckily I was 4cm and they admitted me at 7am. Which was great because I had been contracting for almost 40 hours at that point and I was exhausted. Within 10 min of being there my water broke on its own! Contractions became a lot stronger so I had 2 bags of fluid to keep my blood pressure up before the anesthesiologist would do the epidural. At 5cm I got the epidural at 10:30am I was so nervous for it and it turned out to be the easiest part! Honestly my IV hurt more than the epidural it was so easy. I think i got lucky and had a good anesthesiologist too. After that I was so comfortable. I had family and friends come visit while I started pitocin to speed things up and waited to dilate. My epidural machine alarm kept going off and malfunctioning and by 2pm I began to feel the contractions again. Unfortunately I didn't get another pump in time cause by 3:30pm I was 10cm dilated and feeling every contraction. They had called the anesthesiologist but my baby was already so low they could see his scalp. So they had me start pushing and luckily my son came out in 7 pushes it was so quick. He was born at 3:44pm and was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Definitely worth all the pain I had experienced!!
